Version 7.5 of Astaro Security Gateway features an upgraded intrusion protection engine, which increases the IPS performance by up to 400%, thanks to the efficient use of multi-core CPUs.
The improved IPS engine recognises and prevents attacks on the very latest Microsoft vulnerabilities announced in advance through the Microsoft Active Protection Program (MAPP). This guarantees fast and efficient protection in real-time with Microsoft's "Patch Tuesday".
The latest version of Astaro Security Gateway enables the monitoring of bandwidth utilisation in real-time. A detailed report on who uses what bandwidth is immediately available. In addition, a captive portal was added to the Astaro Web Security engine to authenticate guest users on a Web portal, as used at hotels, sport stadiums and convention centres.
The Astaro Security Gateway Version 7.5 supports multicast routing based on PIM-SM, through which the bandwidth of the application scenarios gets extended to real-time applications, such as financial systems, audio/video streaming, IPTV, etc.
Through Astaro's Feature Request Site, customers and partners were able to directly influence the development of version 7.5 by posting suggestions for product improvements, discussing and evaluating them. Astaro incorporated more than 70% of the proposed amendments into the new release. Minor improvements of the import and export lists, the cloning of objects, scheduled installation of updates, deletion of the DNS cache, customisable shortcuts, delete confirmations and so forth all helped to finally save network administrators valuable time.
For customers with valid maintenance agreements, the V7.5 upgrade is free of charge.
